MOGOK 
(The Treasure Land of Myanmar)

Mogok is located 200 km north east from Mandalay and it takes six and half hours to getthere. It's situated 1170 m above sea-level. So the climate is cool in all weather. The population of the town in 200,000 and they are Shan, Palaung, Kachin, Nepali, Lisu, Danu and Myanmar. 90% of the people who live in Mogok are working for gem business such as Mining, Gem Cutting, Polishing and Trading. The gems market (Htar-Pwe) is the main interest place where local people trade the gems everyday.
There are three different types of mining in Mogok.
 
(1) Four feet square mining (lay-bin-kyin)
(2) Open cut mining
(3) Tunnel type mining


Jade Trip to Mogok
3 Days/2 Nights 
(Mandalay - Mogok - Mandalay)

Day 1: Depart Mandalay - Mogok
Early morning drive to Mogok from Mandalay. Lunch at Let-Pen-Hla, 50miles away from Mandalay and tea at Shwe Nyaung Bin. Sightseeing at Inn Kyaung and Kyat Pyin on the road. Checking in at the Mogok Motel. Having dinner and overnight staying at Mogok Motel.

Day 2: Mogok
Morning call and having breakfast at Motel. Sightseeing at the Gem mines and studying at the Gem markets (Htar Pwe), gem cutting and polishing are included. Leaving for Kyat Pyin and studying the traditional four square feet well (called Lay-Pin-Kyin) and spider Hill. Seeing the Min Ta Dar Gem market. Having dinner at Cherry Myaing Restaurant or similar and night stop at motel.

Day 3: Mogok - Mandalay
Morning call and having breakfast at Motel, sightseeing at Kyee-ni-taung View Point and Le-oo Htar Pwe (seeing and buying place for Gem). Studying at open pint mines in private (Ohn-Pin-Sho) and checking in at the Motel. Having lunch at Kyat Pyin, drive back to Mandalay.
