Wandering around the streets you may notice ceramic pots allow the water to cool by some kind of osmosis process. The Myanmar people bring a hospitable lot, like to leave these pots outside their houses filled with clean drinking water for people to help themselves. While this tradition is prevalent in the rural areas, it still holds, even in the capital. Any passing pilgrim, or indeed any thirsty person can simply dip in and take a drink of cooled water.
